AMS Open Day 2017

Saturday the 15th of July saw the club hold its annual open day in the usual meeting room at the Gordon Highlanders Museum.  This year due to our model show being held in September the open day was brought forward to July instead of its usual September slot.
Approximately 12 or so club members attended the open day event, with a wide selection of models on display ranging from aircraft to armoured vehicles, with some more unusual models consisting of vehicle engines on display from our chairman.

A selection of dioramas were added to the room from the museum, these being a selection of World War 2 scenarios not to forget the large World War one trench diorama with the hidden “Dalek”;  all these being made by the club for the museum in recent years.

Although this is not a model show as such, it was a day for the club members to gather together.  Charlie Reid spent most of the day building some of his Ship models and George Scott our chairman started another one of his engine models to add to his existing collection which were on display.  A moderate number of members of the public came through the room and wandered around, at least one of which showed an interest in joining the club.  The day itself was a quiet and relaxed day for all who attended with the main highlight being the soup and sandwiches for lunch.

Overall the open day was flung together at relatively short notice, a reasonable spread of models and dioramas was put on display by the club for the day.  So well done to all who attended and brought along models for display.
